Judd Peterson Selected 7th Round in NHL Draft
Judd Peterson, Topper Hockey leading scorer for 2011-12, was selected in the seventh round of the NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres on in Pittsburgh. He was the 204th player taken in the draft.
Peterson, 18, is a 6-foot, 185-pound forward who led Marshall to the Class A state tournament, was a Mr. Hockey Finalist and had 47 goals and 36 assists in 30 games for the Hilltoppers.
He plans on playing for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in juniors in the United States Hockey League before joining the Huskies in 2013-14. Peterson is the first player committed to play for St. Cloud State to be drafted since defenseman Kevin Gravel was taken in the fifth round by the Los Angeles Kings in 2010.
In addition, Jake Bushey, 2011-12 Topper Hockey defenseman, was selected 12th overall in North American Hockey League (NAHL) draft to Kenai River Alaska and Ryan Gotelaere, 2011-12 Topper Hockey defenseman was selected by Waterloo in United States Hockey League (USHL) draft. Ryan will be traveling with the Waterloo Blackhawks to Russia this August to compete in the World Junior Tournament.
